Junction gets its name, not from the intersecting highways, but from the merging of the North and South Llano Rivers. Here the water runs cool and clear making Junction the "Land of the Living Waters".
Junction, Texas was established 1876 with the formation of Kimble County. Today, Junction is a trade and retail center of scenic, sparsely populated area nationally noted for production of fine wool and mohair. Camping, fishing, canoeing and hunting are popular in the Junction area.
The city park is open for free camping and sits along the South Fork of the Llano River.
The South Llano river is also a popular river in Texas to Fly Fish.
